      The Best Season:

      The best season for the Gokyo Cho La Pass Island Peak trek in Nepal is generally during the pre-monsoon (spring) and post-monsoon (autumn) periods.
      1. Spring (March to May): This season is considered the best time for trekking in the Everest region. The weather is relatively stable, and the temperatures are mild. The rhododendron forests bloom with vibrant colors, adding to the scenic beauty of the trek. The clear skies also provide excellent views of the surrounding peaks, including Everest.
      2. Autumn (September to November): Another favorable time for the Gokyo Cho La Pass Island Peak trek is during autumn. The weather is stable, and the skies are clear, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas. The temperatures are moderate, making it comfortable for trekking.

      Trek Difficulty:

      The Gokyo Cho La Pass Island Peak Trek is considered a moderately challenging trek, offering a diverse and thrilling experience in the Everest region:
      1. Elevation Challenges: The trek involves ascending to high altitudes, with highlights including Gokyo Ri, Cho La Pass, and Island Peak Base Camp. Reaching elevations above 5000 meters requires a good level of acclimatization, making it essential for trekkers to be aware of potential altitude-related challenges.
      2. Technical Aspects: Island Peak, with its elevation of around 6189 meters, introduces a technical aspect to the trek. Climbing the peak involves the use of basic mountaineering equipment, making it suitable for those with some prior trekking or climbing experience.
      3. Varied Landscapes: The trail encompasses a variety of landscapes, from serene lakesides to challenging mountain passes. Trekkers can expect a mix of terrains, including rocky paths, steep ascents, and descents, adding to the overall adventure.
      4. Duration and Stamina: The trek requires a reasonable level of fitness, as daily walks can extend to several hours. Being physically prepared for long hours of trekking each day contributes to a more enjoyable and comfortable experience.
      5. Weather Considerations: Given the high-altitude nature of the trek, weather conditions can be unpredictable. Trekkers should be prepared for changing weather patterns, ranging from clear skies to potential snowfall, especially in higher elevations.
       

      Food and Accommodation:

      During your trek, expect warm hospitality and simple yet nourishing meals in local teahouses: Food:
      • Teahouses along the trek route offer a variety of meals, including traditional Nepali dishes like dal bhat (rice and lentils), momos (dumplings), noodles, and international options like pasta and pancakes.
      • The diverse menu caters to various tastes, ensuring you have a satisfying culinary experience.
      Accommodation:
      • Accommodations are typically in teahouses or mountain lodges.
      • These lodgings are basic but comfortable, offering twin-bed rooms with shared bathrooms.
      • Blankets are usually provided, but carrying a sleeping bag is advisable for added warmth and comfort.

      Itinerary

      1Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

       

      Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll be greeted by our hospitality and the vibrant atmosphere of the city. You will be provided comfortable hotel for your stay as per our service.

      2Day 2: Rest day at Kathmandu

      Explore the cultural richness of the Capital city before you start your adventure.

      3Day 3: Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2850m) and Trek to Phakding

       

      The third day introduces a flight from Kathmandu to lukla on a domestic airline. You will be able to enjoy the ride with a visible scenery of high mountains of Solukhumbu. As your trek continues, a scenic trek from lukla to phakding, reaching an elevation of 2610 meters. The trail unveils the natural beauty of the region, showcasing the diverse flora and fauna that thrive in the Himalayan terrain.

      After landing at the airport we will take a rest and begin our trek to phakding.

      4Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m)

       

      On the fourth day you will continue your trek to the next destination Namche Bazar. Your path will be filled with more exciting views and experiences like the view of Riverbanks, Suspension Bridges and the gateway to Sagarmatha National Park.

      5Day 5: Rest day at Namche

       

      Spend the day at Hotel Everest View. A very popular hotel that is also one of the highest placed hotel. Situated in  a perfect place from which to explore the nearby villages and enjoy the beautiful landscape filled with evergreen fir trees, shrubs and rhododendron forests.

      6Day 6: Trek from Namche to Dole (4038m)

       

      Dole lies in the Dudh Koshi River valley just north of  Khumjungat an altitude of 4038m .

      Dole is often a stopping point for trekkers on their way to Gokyo via the Cho la route. Its primary function is to support the tourism industry and as such consists of a number of guesthouses.

      7Day 7: Dole to Machermo (4470 m)

       

      Day seven involves a trek to the Machermo village. The trail unfolds with captivating scenery, providing a sense of accomplishment as you ascend to higher elevations. The Machermo village gives you an exposure to cultural richness and what a day to day life of a villager in high mountains look like.

      8Day 8: Trek from Machermo to Gokyo Lake (4790m)

       

      Continuing the ascent, day seven brings you from Chukung village to the Island Peak Camp at an elevation of 5200 meters. The trek challenges your endurance and rewards you with panoramic views, making each step a testament to your journey.

      9Day 9: Climbing the Gokyo Peak (5357m) and Back to Dragnag (4700m)

       

      On this day, You will summit the Gokyo Peak with maximum altitude of 5357 meter. Gokyo Peak or Gokyo Ri is a mountain that offers you the perfect Himalayan peak climbing experience. Standing tall at 5457 meter, one can reach the mountain’s summit from the Gokyo lake and return in one day.

      You will head back to Dragnag, a small village located at the elavation of around 4700m. It’s also known as Thangnak or Thangnag.

      10Day 10: Dragnag to Dzongla via Cho la pass (5420m)

       

      Resuming the trek, day 10 takes you from the Dragnag to the Dzognla village, a small village located at an altitude of approximately 15,850 feet. It’s situated on the ridge between Lobuche and Cho La pass, and is on the Gokyo trail. 

       

      Dzongla has few teahouses. The Cho La summit pass connects Dzongla to the village of Thagnak to the west. The trail up the pass is a rocky uphill scramble

      11Day 11: Trek from Dzongla to Dhingboche

      You will trek down to Dhinbuche, a traditional Sherpa settlement and is known as the “Valley inside the Clouds”. Khumjung is located at an altitude of 3,790 meters  and is a popular detour on the Everest Base Camp trek. Attractions in Khumjung include the Everest Base Camp, Everest Base Camp Trek, and Imja Tse.

      12Day 12: Trek from Dhingboche to Chukung (4730m)

       

      On day 12 you will trek further to a Chukung village, a lodge village located at an elevation of 4730 meters.

      Chukhung Ri is a trekking peak in the Everest region of Solukhumbu district that’s located above Chukhung village. It’s classified as a group “A” category trekking peak. 

      13Day 13: Chukung to Island Peak Base camp (5100m).

      Day thirteen involves a trek from Chukung Valley to Island Peak Base Camp, ascending to an elevation of 5100 meters. Climbers should spend one night at the base camp before attempting to summit the peak. 

      14Day 14: Summit Island Peak (6,165 m) and back to Chukung

       

       

      On day 14, You will summit Imja Tse, better known as Island Peak,  a mountain named in 1953 by members of the British Mount Everest expedition because it appears as an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche.

      As this magnificent mountain in the Imja Khola Valley is considered a practice peak for beginner mountaineers, you might be wondering how difficult this expedition will be. Although it is considered a training peak for beginners, Island Peak difficulty is at a ‘Moderately Difficult’ level.

      After the summit you will head back to Chukung on the same day.

      15Day 15: Chukung to Pangbuche (3985m)

      The trek from Chukung to Pangboche offers a captivating journey through the heart of the Khumbu region in Nepal. Starting in Chukung, a picturesque village surrounded by stunning peaks, you’ll embark on a trek that showcases the mesmerizing landscapes and cultural richness of the Everest region.

      16Day 16: Pangbuche to Khumjung (3790m)

       

      Heading towards Khumjung located at an altitude of 3790 meters, you’ll pass through quaint villages adorned with prayer flags and mani walls, creating a spiritual atmosphere. Khumjung offers panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan giants.

      17Day 17: Khumjung to Manjo (2835m)

      As you descend from Khumjung, the trail takes you through serene landscapes, dense forests, and charming Sherpa villages. You’ll pass through, a small settlement nestled by a river, adding a touch of tranquility to your trek. The lush greenery and the sound of flowing water create a peaceful atmosphere.

      18Day 18: Manjo to Lukla

      You will be heading back with a trek to Lukla

      19Day 19: Lukla to Kathmandu Flight

      On day 19, You will fly from Lukla back to Kathmandu and have yet another chance to experience the scenic beauty of Himalayas of the region while comfortably seated inside the plane.

      20Day 20: Rest day at Kathmandu

      You can either choose to rest at the hotel or explore Kathmandu.

      21Day 21: Departure

      As your unforgettable journey through the Himalayas comes to an end, day 21 marks your departure from Kathmandu. The memories of the breathtaking landscapes, challenging treks, and cultural richness will linger, making this a journey to remember.
